Fear is the number 1 reason why people don’t chase their dreams. They’re scared of failing, of being rejected, of not being enough.
I’m guilty of it too. I sat down to write an application for a 6-month internship at and I got stuck. So many negative thoughts went through my mind that I stopped doing the application and went to do something else.
I am scared of a lot of things to do with my career.
I’m scared of getting my Dream Job and it not being enough (this has already happened), I’m scared that the next job I accept will affect my mental health (this has happened as well), and I guess I’m scared of finding something that I love and it being taken away from me.
My friend once said to me “maybe you’re afraid of success and that’s why you’re struggling.” She was right though. I know what I’m good at, and I know that I can make a huge impact in whatever role I’m in, so why did I leave a job that I loved in order to go travelling?
There are so many motivational books available, from being a Girlboss to Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. There’s something for everyone and I highly recommend them if you’re feeling stuck. You don’t even have to believe it. Hearing someone else succeeding often lights a fire within you that makes you hungry.
It really depends on what helps you find motivation. If you like to interact with people try a life coach, or you can try a podcast like Wanderluce’s that speaks to other bloggers and get their tips. There are so many different ways for you to find the motivation and I really hope you do.
You Are Enough
But you know what? YOU ARE ENOUGH!
You are enough. Say it with me. “I am enough.”
Apply for that internship, email that brand you wanted to work with because if you’re not the right fit for them right now, you might be a perfect fit in 6 months. If you’re still stuck, have a look at my list of things I’m looking for in a career, and write your own list.Tags: Career, Confidence, Future, Self Esteem, Work
