Those of you who have been following Tralisty for a while will know that I’ve had a series of health issues over the last 8 months. If not, don’t worry. You can catch up here.
I had an itch on Monday, got a cold on Tuesday and on Wednesday, I had a rash. It’s now Friday and the rash has spread from my chest to my face and down my arms.
It’s one thing after another and I’m emotionally exhausted. It’s as if my body is shutting down and there’s nothing I can do to help it.
The doctor I saw today thinks it’s an allergic reaction or a reaction to stress. Great.
I already have a list of allergies (codeine, penicillin, erythromycin, diclofenac, raw tomatoes) so to be having another reaction to something is a drain on my mental capacity. I can’t be allergic to something else, I’d be surprised if I can leave the house without falling to pieces, at this point.
I am now facing the possibility of cutting all tomato from my diet, and that means saying goodbye to pizza, spaghetti bolognese, meatballs, ketchup on a bacon sandwich… Almost all Italian food.
I’m trying to not see this as another blow; instead, seeing it as an opportunity to try new foods and discover new flavours.
I had a lightbulb moment when I was eating soup and seeded bread. I’m allergic to opiates, which is made from poppy seeds. There are poppy seeds in seeded bread.
I stopped eating seeded bread (even though I love it!) and my rash had almost disappeared the next day, just a few residual itches!
I’m so happy! My diet contains a lot of tomato sauces and I was facing such a challenge of having to overhaul my entire diet!
I now have my own loaf of 50/50 bread while my mum and sister eat seeded bread. I’m still tempted to have a slice with my soup, but it’s not worth the itch!Tags: Allergies, Health
