I’ve been on my natural hair journey for about 3 months now (has it really been that long…??) and it’s been a learning experience, I’ll tell you that for free!
I’ve found some amazing influencers on Instagram who rock their natural curls and I am struck with curl envy almost every single day, but I remind myself that I’m only 3 months into my journey and that it’s going to take longer than that to undo 13 years of straightening damage.
Search for #CurlyHair on Instagram and you will be metaphorically smacked in the face with millions of pictures of people rocking their natural curls.
One of the people I found is Manny at Made Curly who has the most STUNNING curls (yes I’m annoyed that he’s a boy and has such gorgeous hair but hey ho…). He regularly uses Curls Blueberry Bliss in his Insta videos and his curls always come out looking incredible, so I decided to take a trip to my local hair store.
They had such a huge range of products that I felt completely overwhelmed. I actually had to take pictures of what they had so I could do some research when I got home. I’m talking about brands such as Shea Moisture, Curls, Camille Rose, Palmers… I didn’t realise that so many brands catered for curly hair!
Thoughts on Hair Milk
I thought that doing a simple wash would give me a more realistic result and let me tell you something…
It did not like it.
Well, not that it didn’t like it, exactly. My hair still curled and it smells amazing, but it’s flat.
If you’ve seen some of my Instagram posts, you’ll know that I diffuse my hair to give it volume, but no matter how much hair-tossing I did, there was nothing. The curls were also a bit stringy and separated instead of my usual big clumps of gorgeousness.
Now, this review doesn’t mean that the Hair Milk won’t work with your hair – that’s the amazing thing about a natural hair journey. Different things will work for different people and it’s a huge adventure to find your Wonder Products.
I’ve given this to one of the girls at work and you can tell that her hair is loving it already!
