10 Things 2016 Taught Us

We all know that 2016 was a massive steaming dog turd of a year. So let’s make 2017 better! Whether you’re sitting in your PJs working your way through a family sized tub of ice cream, or you’re completely bossing, this list will give you the motivation to make a change for 2017.

  1. Stop waiting for the right time. This is the right time. Now is the right time. Need to finish an essay? Stop reading this and finish it. Want to travel? Book a flight now. You are never as young as you are right now. You might not have the time next month. Do it now.
  2. It’s ok to cut people out of your life. No, you’re not a horrible person. You have to live with yourself for a really really REALLY long time, so having toxic people around you is never a good idea. Say adios, see ya never, goodbye to those who don’t make you feel happy.
  3. Fight for what you believe in. Other people might not see your point of view, but that doesn’t mean that you’re wrong. It also doesn’t mean that you’re right. But it does mean that if you are passionate about something, fight for it.
  4. Don’t follow all of the latest trends. 2016 brought the contouring-with-household-items. It also brought travel into the limelight. Not all of the trends are good, remember that.
  5. Embrace your oddities. We lost so many incredible people in 2016, and they shared their lives with us. It’s time to be your own Ziggy Stardust.
  6. Sing like there’s no one watching. Just let go and do what makes you feel free
  7. Don’t let people think you are less than them. Especially not men. Flip your hair and say “I’m fabulous.”
  8. Health is important. Don’t sit and eat an entire birthday cake, believe me, you’ll feel terrible. Just start with a little walk after dinner. Get off a stop early and walk the rest of the way. You don’t have to do a marathon, just move a bit more.
  9. Follow your dreams. Even if you have 20 and none of them makes sense. You only regret the things you don’t do, so start making cakes and selling them to your colleagues. Start the travel blog. If it doesn’t work, then try something else.
  10. Be thankful for what you have. You never know, it could all be gone in a second so live life to the full and stop looking back.
