Primark x Alex Steinherr Budget Skincare

I am that girl that will buy ALL of the skincare, just to see if there’s a miracle product out there that will help my confused skin be as amazing as it can be. Nici at Odds and Trends even said I was obsessed, which I think I am!!

I’ve got the L’Oreal Clay Masks, the Primark sheet masks, Superdrug’s Hot Cloth Cleanser… so when I heard the Primark was doing a collab with Alex Steinherr, I knew that I had to buy them. Budget skincare and beautiful packaging are more than enough to make this girl spend her cash.

They were only available in certain stores and had sold out incredibly fast, so when I spotted them in the Manchester Primark, I grabbed EVERYTHING they had.

Today’s post is just going to focus on some of the basics, then do another on the masks and Micellar Gel.

Hydration On-the-Go £4

This is a little tube of gel that is said to give a boost of moisture. Yeah maybe it does but it’s not as great as I wish it was.

It’s a little sticky and my skin felt a little dry after a couple of hours. This could be because I didn’t use enough, but I didn’t want to put too much of this on my skin.

It might be perfect for someone who’s skin isn’t the extremes of the skin types like me. It can be super oily when I wake up in the morning and is dry and flaky by the time I go to bed. So yeah, I’m a little pedestrian when using new skin products.

Anti-Blackhead Stick £5

I’ve used this a couple of times and I haven’t seen a difference.

It’s rough (which is perfect for exfoliating) but I didn’t see a change in my skin. I used it specifically over my nose because my nose is just the worst area for darkness in my pores – maybe that where I went wrong?

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what a ‘blackhead’ is? I don’t think so, because I just Googled it and we all know that Google is fact.

So yeah, not a good one for me.

Daily Skin Starter £5

This is the product that I use most often.

I use it every time I wash my face, just after using my moisturiser and it keeps the dryness at bay – especially in this winter weather! I’d go so far as to say that it is a winter skin saver!

Just a tiny pump across my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin and it keeps my skin hydrated all day.

Facial in a Stick £5

Another one that I expected to be amazing but it just didn’t work. I reckon it’s because it’s in a stick.

I couldn’t get it to lather as much as I’d like and I didn’t see any difference after using, except that my skin felt DRY.

I’m not talking about the type of dry that you get after a face mask; I’m talking tight and dry and it felt really uncomfortable. I used this a couple of times in the shower to see if I could get a good result and I just couldn’t. I tried it all over, I tried it just on my forehead and nose…

Just no.

Overall, I only like the Daily Skin Starter, which is a real shame. I’ve bought the face masks and Micellar Gel so I’ll test those and keep you updated.

Yes to the Daily Skin Starter, no to the rest. Sorry, Primark!
