A big life event happened a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t sure whether to blog about it. But as we bloggers say: if you don’t blog about it, did it even happen?
I told mum that I wanted to work in the International team of a lingerie brand, and I could see my future if I closed my eyes. I was so excited to actually have a plan that I felt I could achieve. I knew exactly where I was going and how to get there.
But when I woke up the next day, I found myself being pulled towards going travelling (I know! After my post about being a non-travelling backpacker!)
Not just any travelling though. I looked at flights from Sydney to Birmingham. Around $1200. I looked at flights from Sydney to Paris. Around $700. No brainer, right? So that sparked something in me.
Instead of going straight home, why don’t I go home via some of the fashion capitals?
So I get straight on to STA Travel because I know they do around-the-world flights, and pull up Google maps to see if there’s a logical journey back to the UK.
Oh my goodness, the prices hurt my soul.
Flights from Sydney to Bali then Bali to Rome was $1344. Actually, not bad come to think of it, but then the accommodation, food, having to get from Rome to Birmingham would really add up. I asked for a week in Bali with flights and that came to $984! Who wants to go to Bali anyway? (Me, but shhhh…)
Time to rethink. I heard an amazing quote a while ago:
So that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to see Europe, but I’ll do it from my base of Birmingham.
Did you know that you can get Eurostar from London to Paris for €100 return (£90 / $147AUD)? It’s so much easier to see Europe when you’re in Europe, so keep an eye out for my trips to Europe later in the year!
